Even though it was only one day, it was memorable with all the good people, good food and beautiful nature around me.

Honolulu, Hawaii

December 16–16

Although we only spent one day in Hawaii for docking and fuel surcharge. I was able to grasp the immense beauty of it. I spent my time in Hawaii picking trash, and learning about the sustainability situation there.

Even just the bus ride to the beach, and to the trash separating place, there were beautiful rows of mountains, and sea one on each side of the bus to look at.

It was a blissful moment.

If you want to have the aquarium experience, you just had to look into the clear blue water to your left or right, and you’d see the marine diversity there.

I also managed to see some horses, and I was really happy.

I also spent time at the beach with good people and ate good healthy conscious food.

I came away from Hawaii with a metal straw and I have to say I never thought of this straw to be significant, but it did give me a higher conscience to try and be sustainable and influence the people around me to be sustainable too.

I’m happy to say that now, I have given away the metal straw, but carry a bamboo straw with me, have a reusable water bottle and try to use bicycles more often.

I also try to support places that support sustainability too!

Going back on the ship was realizing that my voyage around the world was coming to an end.

Was I ready for that?

Kinda!

But I also remember fearing how the hell am I going to spend the rest of my Gap year!? Before school starts at Carleton College.
